For 16 years the green and gold stirred immense pleasure for Brian Dooher, but last July the Tyrone co-manager walked off the field in Croke Park tormented by a 12-point defeat to Kerry. He didn’t know if he would be back.

“You never know,” he says matter-of-factly. A sensational maiden season in 2021 spiralled to a dispiriting low last summer. Earlier this year, Feargal Logan and Dooher were ratified for a second three-year term as senior bosses.
