The Camogie Association has agreed a Minimum Player Charter, which will set out the minimum conditions provided, in terms of support and expenses, for an inter-county player.

The Gaelic Players Association had reportedly imposed a deadline of December 31 for an agreement on minimum conditions, or it was set to prepare a protest involving male and female players.

Earlier this year, the GPA, Camogie Association, and LGFA agreed to deliver a charter for female inter-county players ahead of the 2024 season, bringing to an end matchday protests which had been carried out during last year's championships.

Today's statement from the Camogie Association read:

"The Camogie Association can confirm that following discussions with the GPA and engagement with its counties, the Association has proposed a Minimum Player Charter. The proposed Charter will build on the current Government Inter County Support Scheme and will be financially supported by the Camogie Association.

The significant investment by the Camogie Association will include enhanced contributions to team supports and player expenses. The details of the scheme will be finalised and confirmed in January, following further engagement with all parties."

Camogie Association president Hilda Breslin added: "I am delighted following constructive discussion with the GPA and our counties to confirm that we are in position to propose significant investment in the Camogie Association Minimum Player Charter. This is a significant milestone and will seek to provide certainty to our players and counties over the coming years focusing on priority areas.”
