Galway GAA have called on Croke Park to look favourably on the county for infrastructure grants as they continue to deal with the ramifications of the abandoned Mountain South project.

Speaking at Galway GAA’s annual convention at the Galmont hotel on Monday night, treasurer Michael Burke cited the once-planned centre of excellence near Athenry as a costly disaster. It was purchased in 2006 but the development failed to materialise.
