When Crusheen played Clonlara in their final group game in August, a nine-point defeat looked set to signal the endgame for their championship ambitions in Clare. 

O’Callaghan’s Mills beating Sixmilebridge did change the narrative but Crusheen still felt they were out having already lost to the ‘Bridge. And then the contentious rule 621 handed them a reprieve, where Crusheen suddenly finished second on scoring difference.
