The All-Ireland senior hurling preliminary quarter-finals will be retained after a motion to disband them was rejected by Special Congress delegates this afternoon.
Despite opposition being expressed by counties on a recent roadshow to the last-six games between the second and third-placed provincial teams and the Joe McDonagh Cup finalists continuing, there wasn’t sufficient support for the proposal.
