GAA referees must return to taking a zero tolerance approach towards head-high tackles, according to former national match officials chief Willie Barrett.

As the association’s referees development chairman between 2018 and ‘21, the two-time All-Ireland senior hurling final referee oversaw a red card policy for head-high challenges. It had previously been adopted during Pat McEnaney’s time in the role.
