Malachy O’Rourke is considered a leading candidate to take over Derry following interim boss Ciarán Meenagh’s decision to rule himself out of the reckoning for the full-time role.

Tyrone native Meenagh replaced Rory Gallagher after he stepped away prior to the Ulster final in May. Meenagh had previously been his assistant manager. However, according to a “Gaelic Life” report and since confirmed by sources, he won’t be continuing in the position into 2024.
