'Thankfully we weathered the storm in the second-half' - St Francis College claim Tom Collum cup

Paul O’Riordan from the Tracton club got the all-important goal for St Francis College Rochestown in their 1-13 to 0-14 Munster PPS U19B hurling final victory over Hamilton High School Bandon at Páirc Uí Rinn today.

The game was a mere 16 seconds old when the corner-forward found the back of the net.

“We are over the moon, absolutely delighted,” the number 15 said.

“I only moved to the school last year, I came from Kinsale and they have been top class to me. Since the day I came, they have made me feel at home, they are a fantastic group.

"I was a bit unwell over the last two weeks, but I am good this week. I had a problem with my knees but I am after getting over it."

“The goal, it was kind of a hop of a ball, anyone could have got it. It was just important it ended in the net.

Alan Connolly did all the work in fairness. He went the whole way and crossed the ball. I only had to put it in the net.

“It was a three-point game at half-time. We were confident enough but Hammies are a great team and we knew they would come back at us.

Thankfully we weathered the storm in the second-half. We were confident enough we would hold out. Our defence was very strong.
