Classy Donncha O’Connor calls it a day with Cork

The unassuming character he is, it was appropriate that Donncha O’Connor’s retirement confirmation came away from the dictaphones in Portlaoise on Saturday evening with a subtle statement that he would have more time for golf.

No official comment was made but the 37-year-old admitted to Cork’s 103 FM’s Finbarr McCarthy outside the Cork dressing room that the defeat to Tyrone was his last time in a senior Cork jersey.
