Cork footballers set to be boosted by return of three players

Following a pair of retirements in recent weeks, there appears to be some good news for Cork's footballers tonight.

Former captain Michael Shields, forward Donal Óg Hodnett and keeper Ken O'Halloran are reportedly on the verge of a return to the senior panel.

All three opted out of a disappointing 2016 for Peadar Healy's side, but are likely to feature when pre-season training begins next month, according to the42.ie.

Daniel Goulding and, most recently, Fintan Goold announced their retirements from Cork football.

The Rebels were relegated from Division 1 of the league and lost to Tipperary in Munster and Donegal in the qualifiers in 2016.
