Monaghan manager Malachy O’Rourke placed his trust in his players’ desire and determination as he counted down the days to a blockbuster Ulster semi-final.

His faith was rewarded today with a performance laced with passion as the Ulster champions dug out a narrow one point win over Tyrone, their first championship defeat of the Red Hands since the 1988 provincial final.
