GAA County Football finals wrap
10 teams are celebrating County Senior Football title wins this evening, after today's finals in Cork, Kildare, Galway, Westmeath, Monaghan, Offaly, Cavan, Tyrone, Carlow and Sligo.
Brian Hurley bagged 12 points as Castlehaven claimed their second Cork SFC title in 12 months, and their fifth title overall, following a 0-16 to 1-11 win over Nemo Rangers this afternoon.
Little separated the sides in this game, and after being level four times in the opening half, an Alan Cronin goal pushed Rangers to a 1-08 to 0-10 half-time lead.
Nemo were wasteful on the restart, with Hurley deadly accurate as his side claimed the Andy Scannell Cup.
In Kildare, goals were key as Moorefield edged the all-Newbridge derby with a 2-14 to 0-13 win at St. Conleth's Park.
Sarsfields led by 0-10 to 0-07 at the interval, thanks in the main to the efforts of Conor Tiernan and Ray Cahill.
Moorefield missed a penalty from Ronan Sweeney on the restart, but came good when it mattered most, as late goals from Patrick Murray and full-back Ger Naughton ensuring a seven-point win.
Corofin added the Galway SFC title to their list of silverware for 2013 to date, having already claimed the All-Ireland Sevens title, with a comfortable 2-13 to 0-7 win over reigning champions Salthill/Knocknacarra at Tuam Stadium.
Gary Sice was in superb form, netting Corofin's second goal, in a game which saw his side hold a 1-07 to 0-05 interval lead, with Kieran Comer netting a penalty goal.
A historic first Westmeath SFC success in 50 years was achieved by St. Loman's after the Mullingar outfit claimed a 1-16 to 0-15 win over Tyrrellspass at Cusack Park.
Loman's led by 0-10 to 0-5 at half-time, and although Tyrrellspass cut the gap to the minimum in the third quarter, a David Whelan goal paved the way for a historic win.
Scotstown picked up a first Monaghan title in 20 years, following a 2-16 to 0-07 win over Clontibret at St. Tiernach's Park.
In a replica of the Westmeath decider, the eventual winners led by 0-10 to 0-05 at the interval, with a brace of Shane Carey goals in quick succession on the restart helping Scotstown to a 15-point win.
Offaly hurler Shane Dooley scored 2-02 as Tullamore ended Rhode's quest for a seventh SFC title since 2004, following a 2-07 to 0-09 win at O'Connor Park.
Dooley's first goal helped Tullamore to a 1-02 to 0-03 interval lead, but Rhode never found their form as a second Dooley goal gave the county town side a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Ballinagh upset the odds to take their 13th Cavan SFC title, following a slender 0-12 to 0-11 win at Kingspan Breffni Park.
Both sides were reduced to 14-men late on with Ballinagh losing Anthony Gaynor to a second yellow and Michael Lyng also seeing red.
Seanie Johnston had a late chance to snatch a replay but his shot was blocked out as Ballinagh held out for silverware.
The O'Neill Cup is in Clonoe for the second time in six years, thanks to a 3-08 to 0-12 win over Carrickmore in the Tyrone SFC final at Healy Park, Omagh today.
The sides were level at 0-06 to 1-03 at half-time with Paul Coney netting for Clonoe.
They never looked back on the restart, with Dan McNulty and PJ Lavery claiming further goals.
Pat Hickey excelled in Old Leighlin's 1-10 to 1-08 win over Rathvilly in Carlow, with Cathal Coughlan netting their lone goal.
In Sligo, Tourlestrane edged their South county rivals Tubbercurry by 0-13 to 0-10 to take their 11th title.
Tourlestrane led by 0-06 to 0-04 at half-time, and although Tubbercurry moved ahead on the restart, following the good work of Sligo Rovers player Fabio Cretaro and Stephen Gilmartin, Tourlestrane dug deep.
Points from John Quinn, Brian Egan and Gary Gaughan powered them to glory.
