AIG Ireland have been revealed as the new sponsors of Dublin GAA in what is a major new five-year sponsorship deal for the capital's inter-county hurling and football teams at all levels.
One of the largest insurance companies in the country, AIG (American International Group) replace Dublin's previous sponsors Vodafone who signed a three-year contract with the Dubs in 2010, valued at around €4.65m.
The new deal with AIG Ireland is reportedly worth €2m over five years, with the Dublin County Board no doubt hoping that their inter-county sides can continue to produce the results on the pitch that they did during the Vodafone sponsorship.
The telecommunications provider was on board for the Dublin footballers' treble this year of All-Ireland, Leinster and National League honours, as well as their 2011 All-Ireland win.
'Vodafone' was also on the hurlers' jerseys when they won National League and Leinster titles and when the Under-21 and minor footballers were crowned All-Ireland champions (both in 2012).
The nature of the AIG deal means that for the first time ever, the Dublin Ladies football and Camogie teams will also come under the one sponsorship umbrella.
The agreement comes into effect on November 1 next, and a new Dublin jersey will be launched within the next month - neatly timed to coincide with the Christmas market.

"Dublin GAA is a huge organisation, supporting 92 clubs, 100,000 associated members, 320 active primary schools and organises 4,000 adult club games every year.
"As a passionate GAA supporter myself, I understand how important sponsorship revenue is to ensure that these structures are supported and to ensure GAA is promoted at all levels from GAA nurseries to the stars who appear in Croke Park."

AIG, who employ close to 400 people in Ireland, have over 150,000 policy holders in the country. Its principal products are car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance and commercial insurance.
