Mayo 'dissatisfaction' at All-Ireland Final ticket allocation

Mayo County Board has said that it expects a smaller allocation of tickets for the All-Ireland final than it got for last year's final.

It leaves Mayo supporters wiith an even bigger task than usual of getting the coveted tickets.

The Board's PRO, Aiden McLoughlin, told the Western People newspaper: "Unfortunately, the amount of tickets that we got in total this year is not what we anticipated. We're actually down on what we got last year, even with the minors.

"We made representation to Croke Park and we're waiting to hear back from them. I don't anticipate that we will be getting anymore tickets down from Croke Park. We've expressed our dissatisfaction with that."

He went on to say that Croke Park had not given a reason for the cut in tickets, but he did point out that Dublin have around 2,500 season-ticket holders, while Croke Park have their own.

He said: "There's no official number as to what the county has so far, but we've less than last year. Because of that, the season tickets that we got for Cairde Mayo members mightn't be as good as we would have liked. We're a bit unhappy with the amount of tickets we got."

McLoughlin said that most of Cairde Mayo's members, which is at around 1,400 at the moment, renewed their 2014 membership on Saturday which entitles them to buy a second All-Ireland final ticket in addition to the one already guaranteed by their membership this year.
