Davy Fitzgerald, a winning goalkeeper with Clare back in 1995 and 1997, had a huge sense of achievement yesterday as the current crop made it to the All-Ireland SHC final.

The Clare boss spoke of the historical significance of the 1-22 to 0-18 semi-final victory over Limerick for a county that has only made a handful of previous appearances in the All-Ireland senior hurling decider - they were winners in 1914, 1995 and 1997 and beaten finalists in 1932 and 2002.
