Cummins scoops another Poc Fada title

Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins made history on the Annaverna Mountain in Cooley today as he equalled Ger Cunningham's record of seven All-Ireland Poc Fada titles.

Cummins covered the testing course in 51 pucks to win the M Donnelly-sponsored competition in Louth, adding to his previous successes in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012.

The 38-year-old led at the halfway point and held on as he beat off stiff competition from fellow net minders James Skehill, Eoin Reilly, Stephen Brenner, Donal Og Cusack and Colm Callanan.

Down's Graham Clarke, the 2010 Poc Fada winner, ran Cummins closest with a tally of 55 pucks and Galway native Skehill finished in third place with 57 pucks.

Menwhile, Patricia Jackman from Waterford also entered the record books with her fifth successive Camogie Poc Fada title. She came home in 27 pucks, and Galway youngster Jack Coyne won the Under-16 competition with a 25-puck total.
