London boss Coggins wins manager award

London football manager Paul Coggins has broken further new ground by winning the Philips Sports Manager of the Month award for June.

The Roscommon man, who has been in charge of the Exiles since 2011, guided London to their first Connacht SFC win since 1977 when they overcame Sligo in Ruislip at the end of May.

They then took Leitrim to a replay in their Connacht semi-final clash and having opened up a 14-point lead during the wind-backed first half of the second game, they held on in determined fashion to beat Leitrim and secure their first ever senior provincial final appearance.

London will face Mayo in the Connacht decider in Castlebar on Sunday, July 21, with Coggins dubbing his manager's award 'a great honour on behalf of the team'.

Receiving the award from Susan Hughes of Philips Ireland, Coggins said: "I would like to put on record I accept the award on behalf of all London Gaels, especially our fantastic hard working players and my brilliant backroom team - I'm very proud for all those great people."
