Lory Meagher Cup wins for Fermanagh and Warkwickshire

Fermanagh and Warwickshire opened their Lory Meagher Cup campaigns with wins over Leitrim and Longford respectively this afternoon.

Last years beaten finalists Fermanagh were goal hungry as they claimed a 3-13 to 0-12 win over hosts Leitrim at Ballinamore.

Despite a 10-point gap at the full-time whistle, it was Leitrim who began this game strongly with the Connacht side leading by 0-6 to 0-3 after 15 minutes, despite being reduced to 14 men at this stage with Zak Moradi dismissed.

But once Fermanagh found their goal-scoring range there was no stopping the Erne County, with Sean Corrigan netting their first goal, with good scores also from Daniel Teague to help them take a 1-5 to 0-7 interval lead.

Fermanagh failed to ease up in the second half, with Shea Curran and Karl Kehoe netting a goal each inside 15 minutes of the restart on the way to a 10-point win.

Sean Hennessy bagged 1-8 as Warwickshire staged an impressive 1-15 to 1-10 win over Longford at Páirc na hÉireann in Birmingham.

The Exiles staged an impressive second half turnaround in this game, after Longford led by 1-7 to 0-9 at half-time, with Joe O'Brien netting their goal.

But Hennessy's goal put the hosts in the driving seat once again in the restart, and they stood firm in the second half to claim a five-point win.
