Westmeath to probe 'stoning' of linesman at Leinster U21 match
Westmeath GAA officials are set to investigate an incident during last night's Cadbury Leinster Under 21 Football Championship quarter-final between Westmeath and Wexford where it was alleged that referee Derek Fahy was hit by stones.
The top-ranking Longford whistler was acting as a linesman during last night's game in Mullingar, which required extra-time before Wexford emerged victorious.
The Slaneysiders registered a semi-final berth thanks to a goal from Robert Dempsey in the dying seconds of extra-time.
Eye-witnesses claim that stones were thrown at Fahy after he consulted with Referee Fergal Barry regarding an incident which led to Westmeath senior panelist Kelvin Reilly being sent off in extra-time.
