Goal-hungry Cork booked a Waterford Crystal Cup semi-final date against either Clare or UL, following a 4-16 to 1-8 win over Waterford IT before 484 spectators at Pairc Ui Rinn this afternoon.

Jimmy Barry Murphy's charges always looked lively in this game, with a brace of goals inside the opening 15 minutes providing a strong start for the Rebels to this contest.

An Anthony Nash penalty strike coupled with a Jamie Coughlan goal powering Cork to a 2-3 to 0-2 lead at this stage.

WIT responded with a goal from Tipperary's Michael Sheedy, but Cork continued to remain on top before the interval, thanks to the efforts of Adrian Mannix who registered four first half points and Coughlan who brought his tally to 1-3 by the break.

Leading by 2-9 to 1-4 at the interval, Cork continued to impress on the restart.

The hosts outscored the students by five points to one in a 15 minute spell after the break, with Cian McCarthy impressive for Cork, while Martin Gaffney claimed the WIT score.

WIT were held to just four second half points, as goals from Mannix in the 57th and 62nd minutes helped pave the way for a comfortable 17-point win.
