Cody set for 15th year with Kilikenny

Brian Cody is to remain in charge of the Kilkenny senior hurlers, with the 2013 season being his 15th at the Cats' helm.

Cody guided them to All-Ireland glory once again in September. His superb record at the top level is marked by nine Liam MacCarthy Cup triumphs, including a four in-a-row of titles between 2006 and 2009.

Confirmation came through last night that the 58-year-old has agreed terms with the Kilkenny County Board for another year as the Cats boss.

Cody, who hails from the James Stephens club, will be assisted once more by Martin Fogarty (Erin's Own) and Michael Dempsey (St. Joseph's, Laois) when the new season gets underway.

2013 could be another bumper year for Cody's charges as they bid to defend their Walsh Cup, Allianz League and All-Ireland crowns, as well as gaining revenge on Galway who beat them in this year's Leinster decider.

With Cody staying on, lynchpin forward Henry Shefflin is also expected to continue his inter-county playing career as he chases a record 10th All-Ireland winners' medal.
