Deegan to officiate at All-Ireland Football final
Laois native Maurice Deegan has been confirmed as the referee for the 2012 GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final between Donegal and Mayo on Sunday, September 23.
The Stradbally clubman takes charge of his second All-Ireland SFC decider, having been the man in the middle for Tyrone's success against Kerry in 2008.
To date in 2012, Deegan has taken charge of numerous provincial and qualifier games across the country along with the Allianz Football League Division 1 final between Cork and Mayo, which saw the Rebels take silverware.
David Coldrick of Meath will be the standby referee, while Laois Eddie Kinsella will be the other linesman.
Deegan's umpires on the day will be Kevin O’Brien (St Joseph's, Laois), Sean Langton (St Joseph's, Laois), Alan Abbey (Stradbally, Laois) and Richard Oxley (Timahoe, Laois). Cork's Conor Lane will be the sideline official.
Meanwhile, Barry Cassidy of Wolfe Tones, Bellaghy in Derry will take charge of the upcoming All-Ireland minor final.
Already this year he has been the man in the middle for numerous games at senior level, including the Leinster SFC quarter-final between Meath and Carlow.
The umpires for the minor game will be Kevin Torner (Bellaghy Wolfe Tones, Derry), Anthony Campbell (O’Donovan Rossa, Magherafelt), Tom O’Kane (St Malachy’s Castledawson) and Alan Nash (Derry Trasna, Derry).
