Carey only concern for Rebels as McElhinney returns for Donegal

Cork or Donegal are reporting no fresh injury concerns ahead of their All-Ireland SFC semi-final meeting at Croke Park this Sunday.

The only injury concern for Rebels boss Conor Counihan is Ray Carey after the defender was forced to come off during Cork's quarter-final win over Kildare.

Carey was forced off in the 47th minute and was replaced by Bishopstown clubman Jamie O’Sullivan.

The Clyda Rovers player subsequently missed Avondhu's Cork SFC fourth round win over Ilen Rovers because of the knock.

“I expect everyone to be fit and available for selection," Counihan said.

"We’re confident at this stage that Ray will be right. Every manager wants to have a full squad available, we’re no different in that and last year we were unfortunate in that regard. Touch wood now, we’ll have a full squad to select from.”

Meanwhile, Donegal expect Martin McElhinney to return to training tomorrow night.

The St. Michael's player has recovered from a knee injury, and is back in contention for a starting berth this weekend.

“Martin has a slight knee injury, but it is nothing too serious," Donegal manager Jimmy McGuinness said.

"He didn’t play for St. Michael’s at the weekend and he has not trained all week. But we expect him back training on Tuesday night and to be honest if the game was this Sunday, he would be fit to play.

"It is just a matter of being careful and not running the risk of aggravating the injury. But he will be fine for Cork.”
