Cats have 'no worries' about Power

Kilkenny expect to have Richie Power available for their crunch All-Ireland SHC semi-final clash with Tipperary on Sunday, August 19.

Power's appearance in last weekend's quarter-final win over Limerick was prematurely ended by a heavy challenge from Wayne McNamara in the closing stages of the first half.

The lynchpin forward had to be substituted after suffering concussion. He was assessed and taken to hospital for further examination.

But Kilkenny GAA Secretary Ned Quinn has confirmed that the Carrickshock clubman will be able to line out against Munster champions Tipperary in just over two weeks' time.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Quinn said: "The team won't be back training until the weekend and I expect Richie Power to be back with the rest of the lads then.

"After he was brought off, Richie was immediately taken to hospital in Kilkenny, but he wasn't detained overnight or anything like that. In fact, he was back home before the rest of us got home from Thurles.

"So there are no worries about his availability for the All-Ireland semi-final."
