Monaghan and Fingal to contest final

Monaghan and Fingal will contest the Allianz Hurling League Division 3A final after securing final round wins this afternoon, while Louth finished in third place after beating Tyrone.

Monaghan were 4-18 to 2-10 winners over Sligo at Inniskeen. Brian McGuigan netted a hat-trick for the Ulster side in a game which saw Noel Morgan register Monaghan's fourth goal.

Damien Burke and Larry Cadden scored goals for Sligo. Burke's goal came in the opening half after which Monaghan led by 2-5 to 1-6.

At Swords, Niall Feeney scored a last minute winner as Fingal edged past Donegal on a 2-19 to 4-12 scoreline for their fourth win of the campaign.

Fingal led 1-10 to 1-8 at the interval with Graham Dillon netting their goal while Kevin Campbell claimed Donegal's three-pointer.

The visitors edged ahead thanks to a goal from Danny Cullen and a well-taken brace from Ronan McDermott.

However, Feeney struck for a crucial goal with the final puck of the contest to ensure a narrow victory for the Dublin outfit, who have finished second behind Monaghan at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Louth were impressive 0-24 to 0-16 winners over Tyrone in Dundalk.

Shane Fennell and Diarmuid Murphy were among the hosts' scorers as they led by 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time and they powered home in the second half.

After the completion of the league phase, bottom side Sligo, who lost four of the games, will take on fifth-placed Donegal in a relegation play-off. Donegal's only victory in Division 3A this season was a 1-16 to 2-12 defeat of Sligo in Letterkenny two weeks ago.
