Dublin’s Connolly cleared to play in All-Ireland final
Dublin full forward Diarmuid Connolly is free to line out for the Metropolitans in their upcoming All-Ireland SFC final against Kerry, after the red card he received in Dublin's win over Donegal was quashed tonight.
The decision was confirmed after Dublin County Board issued a statement following the meeting at Croke Park.
The St Vincent’s clubman went before a meeting of Central Hearings Committee (CHC) tonight, along with Dublin Chief Executive John Costello.
It is believed fresh video evidence was used to ensure that the proposed four-week suspension for his red card in Dublin’s victory over Donegal in their semi-final was overturned.
The Dublin full forward was sent off by Laois official Maurice Deegan during the last-four encounter after he raised his hands to Donegal substitute Marty Boyle.
However, on appeal the Central Hearings Committee have decided against imposing the four week ban which had been recommended by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).
