Ryan reappointed as Longford manager
The Longford County Board have moved quickly to keep Glenn Ryan in charge of the county's senior footballers for a fourth year.
Ryan succeeded Luke Dempsey in the role in October 2008 and after an initial two-year term, had his contract extended at the end of the 2010 Championship.
This season Longford won promotion to Division 3 of the Allianz Football League, beating table-toppers Roscommon in the Division 4 final.
Ryan's charges were pipped by Laois in their Leinster SFC first round clash, but had an encouraging campaign in the All-Ireland qualifiers beginning with a 2-16 to 0-11 victory over Cavan.
They held a half-time lead over Tyrone in their second round encounter before Mickey Harte's men took over after the break.
Ryan, the former Kildare captain, was ratified for another year at the helm at the meeting of the Longford County Board.
Longford GAA Chairman Pat Cahill said: "We've had a very good season and we would like to think we can build on that with Glenn in charge again."
