Stapleton the only change for Tipp

Tipperary manager Declan Ryan has made one change to his team for Sunday's Munster SHC final against Waterford.

Paddy Stapleton returns from injury for the eagerly-awaited clash at Páirc Uí Chaoimh (throw-in 4pm). The Borris-Ileigh clubman comes in at right corner back, stepping in for David Young.

Stapleton's inclusion sees John O'Keeffe revert to right wing back, where he will feature alongside 2009 All-Stars Conor O'Mahony and Padraic Maher.

This will be the 22-year-old O'Keeffe's first Munster senior final appearance. He made his Allianz Hurling League debut for Tipp against this weekend's opponents, Waterford, back in March.

Stephen Lillis and John Coghlan, who are also new to the panel this year, and James Woodlock and Pa Bourke have to be content with places on the bench again. The quartet, along with Stapleton, were all used as substitutes in the recent semi-final win over Clare.

Tipp's long-serving goalkeeper Brendan Cummins will create GAA history on Sunday when he equals Christy Ring's record number of Championship appearances. Ring played 65 SHC games for Cork between 1940 and 1962.

The 36-year-old Cummins has won 38 matches with the Premier County during his Championship career, including his first game against Waterford back on May 21, 1995.

Reigning All-Ireland champions Tipp are gunning for their third Munster SHC title in four years. They beat Waterford at the semi-final stage of last year's All-Ireland Championship, with a goal from Eoin Kelly helping them run out 3-19 to 1-18 winners.

The victorious side on Sunday will advance to an All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park on August 14. The losers will be back in action in two weeks' time, contesting a quarter-final tie.
