Injury setback for Dublin's Griffin
Former captain Paul Griffin could miss Dublin's entire Championship campaign, amid reports of a more serious complication of the cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered last year.
Griffin ruptured his cruciate ligament during an Allianz Football League match against Monaghan last year and has not played competitively for the Dubs since then.
He looked to be getting back to full fitness during some recent challenge games but aggravated the injury last week. The early suggestion is that it is damage to the bone rather than the ligament.
Kilmacud Crokes manager Paddy Carr says that Griffin will miss the club's next game but it is too early to tell how long he will be on the sidelines for.
Meanwhile, the Ulster Council of the GAA have confirmed that both of the Ulster SFC semi-finals will take place at Clones later this month.
Armagh, who were impressive winners over Down, will meet Derry in the first semi-final on Sunday, June 19. Reigning champions Tyrone will face either Donegal or Cavan seven days later at the Monaghan venue.
