GAA winter training ban to remain

The GAA's winter training ban will continue as it currently stands for the months of November and December, after a decision by delegates at GAA Congress this afternoon.

The motion from the Portarlington club in Laois proposed that the training ban be reduced for just the month of November.

However, this motion was defeated when delegates voted electronically at Congress in Mullingar. 46% backed the motion, with 54% against.

After the result was made known, GAA president Christy Cooney said that he wished for counties to respect the two-month ban.

"I would appeal to you to ensure that this break from training is fully adhered to by all counties," he said.
