National Football League Division 3 round-up

Wexford continue to top Division 3 of the Allianz Football League despite losing to Tipperary, while there were wins also for Westmeath, Offaly and Cavan over the weekend.

Tipperary claimed a 0-17 to 0-10 win over Jason Ryan's side at Semple Stadium in Thurles this afternoon. The Premier County side had led by 0-11 to 0-07 at half-time.

Westmeath recorded a 0-14 to 0-12 win over Limerick at Newcastlewest, despite having three players sent off in the closing seven minutes.

Dual players Brendan Murtagh and Paul Greville and former All-Star Dessie Dolan were all dismissed for the visitors.

Offaly dug deep before claiming their fourth win of the campaign. They beat Waterford on a 1-14 to 1-12 scoreline at Dungarvan.

The Faithfuls led by 1-08 to 1-07 at half-time. The sides were tied at 1-12 apiece late on until Offaly pulled away with the final two points.

On Saturday night, Cavan eased their relegation woes when overcoming Louth by 0-11 to 1-05 at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Cavan led by three points at half-time, and looked comfortably on course when Gerard McKiernan (0-02) and Cian Mackey opened up a six-point lead.

A Mark Brennan goal brought Louth back into contention, but Cavan held on with points from Ronan Flanagan and Seanie Johnston closing out the result.
