National Football League Division 3 round-up
Wexford and Offaly produced away wins in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League, while Limerick bucked that trend at the Gaelic Grounds.
Goals proved crucial for Maurice Horan's Limerick side who secured a 2-14 to 0-15 win over Cavan in today's early throw-in.
Limerick led by 0-10 to 0-05 at half-time and continued to show great initiative in the second half, with a brace of second half goals setting up their first win of the league campaign.
At Cusack Park in Mullingar, Wexford registered a 0-13 to 1-7 win over Westmeath. The visitors led by 0-02 to 0-01 after 12 minutes, and were 0-08 to 0-03 ahead at half-time.
Westmeath cut the deficit to two points on the restart thanks to a Paul Greville goal. However, Jason Ryan's charges held that extra edge and held out for victory.
At Drogheda, Offaly inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on Louth as the visitors earned a 1-09 to 0-11 win.
Louth led by 0-06 to 0-05 at half-time, but a 40th minute penalty from Niall McNamee turned the game in Offaly's favour.
McNamee's goal pushed the visitors into a five-point lead, and despite Louth claiming the last four points, Tom Cribbin's charges finished on top.
