County finals round-up

There was county football final action in Donegal, Derry, Fermanagh, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow and London today, while Kilmallock claimed the lone Senior Hurling championship title on offer.

In Donegal, Naomh Conaill claimed their first county Championship since 2005 and only their second title in all thanks to a 1-15 to 0-8 win over Killybegs at MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey.

The Glenties outfit were in superb form over the hour, and led by 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval, with Killybegs reduced to 14 men at this stage following the dismissal of Christopher Murrin.

Naomh Conaill continued to impress in the second half, and Dermot Molloy's injury-time goal sealed the win.

In Derry, Coleraine clinched their first ever SFC title thanks to a hard-earned 2-11 to 0-15 victory over Ballinderry Shamrocks.

Ballinderry led 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time, but two goals in a minute from Richard Carey and Colm McGoldrick put Coleraine in control on the restart.

In Fermanagh, Brothers Seamus and Sean Quigley hit a goal each as Roslea gained their first SFC title since 1986. They ran out 3-4 to 0-8 winners over St. Patrick's at Brewster Park.

Roslea led by 2-3 to 0-3 at half-time, with Brendan Sherlock netting the winners' third goal.

Garrycastle made it back-to-back Westmeath SFC titles when beating Mullingar Shamrocks by 2-9 to 1-8 at Cusack Park.

A 21st minute goal from James Dolan paved the way for a 1-6 to 1-2 interval lead, and they never looked back with Paul Dillon netting his side's second goal inside eight minutes of the restart.

There was a dramatic victory to the Louth SFC final as Keith Brennan came off the bench to score the winning point for Mattock Rangers, three minutes into injury-time.

Brennan's score ensured Mattock retained the title courtesy of a 1-8 to 0-11 win over Cooley Kickhams.

Cooley led by 0-6 to 0-3 at half-time, but Mattock bounced back in the second half with Niall Callan netting the only goal.

Elsewhere in Leinster, Castletown won their first Wexford Senior Football Championship since 1981 after defeating Kilanerin by 0-12 to 0-9 at Wexford Park.

Leighton Glynn was the hero for Rathnew as the Garden County forward struck two goals to see off Baltinglass by 2-8 to 0-6 in the Wicklow SFC decider at Aughrim.

Meanwhile, Neasden Gaels won the London SFC final, overcoming Parnells by 1-7 to 0-7 at Ruislip, with Paul Geraghty scoring the match-winning goal.

It was Neasden's first title since 1999 - they had lost the previous two deciders.

In Limerick, Kilmallock were crowned county SHC winners for the first time since 1994, following a 1-16 to 1-12 win over Emmets at the Gaelic Grounds.

Today's triumph marked Kilmallock's ninth Championship win in all.
