Decision on O'Rourke appeal adjourned

Kildare senior football selector Aidan O'Rourke has had his appeal against an infraction committed during the Lilywhites' All-Ireland Fourth Round qualifier win over Monaghan last month adjourned to a later date.

The former Armagh footballer was reported for a breach of match regulations, alleged to be encroachment onto the pitch, during the 1-15 to 1-11 victory at Croke Park.

O'Rourke requested a hearing as he chose not to accept the penalty proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee.

However, the Dromintee clubman has yet to be told the outcome of his hearing, with a GAA statement this afternoon stating that "the Central Hearings Committee dealt with a number of procedural issues and adjourned the hearing to a later date".

Meanwhile, Antrim minor hurler Matthew Donnelly's appeal against his red card dismissal in the All-Ireland MHC quarter-final tie against Dublin at Crossmaglen last month was successful.

Donnelly had been reported by referee Alan Kelly for 'behaving in a way dangerous to an opponent.'

However, the CHC found that "the facts proved disclosed an infraction but one less serious than that alleged, that is to say 'careless use of the hurley','' and subsequently no suspension was imposed.
