O'Rourke steps down as Fermanagh boss

Malachy O'Rourke has brought his reign as Fermanagh senior football manager to an end, after deciding not to seek a fourth year in charge.

Fermanagh were relegated from NFL Division 3 earlier this year, and bowed out of the Ulster and All-Ireland Championships to Monaghan and Armagh respectively.

A statement from the Fermanagh County Board read: "We would like to thank Malachy and all his backroom team for all their commitment and dedication over the last three years. We wish them all the very best for the future.

"The Fermanagh Management Committee will be meeting shortly to put in place a process to appoint a new Fermanagh senior football manager."

O'Rourke succeeded Charlie Mulgrew in the role in 2007, having helped Loup win the Ulster title and guided Errigal Ciaran and Cavan Gaels to county glory in Tyrone and Cavan respectively.

Reaching the Ulster SFC final in 2008 and securing Fermanagh's first Ulster win over Cavan since 1914 were highlights of the Derrylin man's time with the Ernesiders.
