Ó hAilpín to miss Munster final replay

Seán Óg Ó hAilpín will be watching from the stand when Cork battle it out with Waterford in Saturday's Munster SHC final replay at Semple Stadium.

Ó hAilpín sustained a hamstring injury in the drawn game last weekend and had to be replaced by Ray Ryan, early in the second half.

The vastly-experienced defender is facing a lay-off of up to three weeks, and is hoping his team-mates can win the Munster title in his absence.

If they do so, they will earn an All-Ireland semi-final berth, with that last-four game taking place on August 15.

The Cork team for the rematch with Waterford will be confirmed by manager Denis Walsh tomorrow.

His Waterford counterpart Davy Fitzgerald has an almost injury-free panel to choose from, with midfielder Richie Foley (finger) their main worry.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Deéise selector Padraig Fanning said: "A few lads have dead legs and so on, what you'd expect after a hard Championship match, but we think we're okay - hopefully nothing's flared up since last Sunday evening.

"Richie Foley had a cut finger and that had to be stitched up, he's probably the only real concern.

"He took that injury into the game and it had to be fixed when it opened up again, but we'd be hoping the six days will help him recover for the replay."
