Injuries force cancellation of Galway hurling training

An unprecedented number of injuries forced manager John McIntyre to postpone last night's training session for the Galway Senior hurlers.

The Tribesmen face an injury crisis ahead of their Leinster SHC quarter-final tie against Wexford on Saturday week at Nowlan Park, with just 12 of the current squad injury free at present.

Twenty-one players are currently receiving treatment for a variety of injuries, which leaves McIntyre with an unenviable task ahead of the May 29 tie.

GAA Vodafone Hurler of the Month Ger Farragher and Donal Barry are both nursing dead legs at present.

Last year's Galway captain Ollie Canning, missed Portumna’s weekend championship game with Beagh through a hamstring injury, while Conor Dervan and Kevin Hayes are also out with similar complaints.

Eanna Ryan is also among those injured for the Tribesmen, who will be aiming to win their first game in their current stint in the Leinster SHC.
