Dour win fails to dampen Pearse Og

In a dour encounter at the Athletic Grounds, Pearse Og emerged as the new Armagh Senior Football champions after an 0-8 to 0-4 city derby win over Armagh Harps.

The sides were level at 0-4 apiece at half-time but Harps failed to score in the second half, as the Orchard County crowned new champions for the first time in 14 years.

Crossmaglen Rangers, the title holders for a record 13 years, were knocked out recently at the quarter-final stage by Pearse Og.

Martin Cullen top-scored for Ogs in wet conditions, landing five points, and two early efforts from him had the Brendan Hughes-managed side in front by 0-3 to 0-1.

Ultan Kelly hit three points to get Harps level before the break, but Ogs seized the initiative on the restart as further points from Anton Duffy (0-2) and Cullen (0-2) steered the pre-match favourites to victory.

This was Ogs' third successive county final appearance and first title success since 1992. They will now play St. Gall's of Antrim in the quarter-finals of the Ulster Championship.
