Laois back Dempsey

At a meeting in Portlaoise last night, the Laois County Board Executive unanimously backed the reappointment of Sean Dempsey as manager of the Laois senior footballers for next year.

Dempsey will now require the backing of the O'Moore County's clubs in order to hold his managerial position for 2010.

A scheduled meeting of the Laois County Board is not due to take place until later this month, but it is likely that an emergency meeting will be held within the next ten days to deal with Dempsey's appointment.

Laois crashed out of the 2009 All-Ireland Championship, losing to Down in Newry in the second round of the qualifiers last month.
