O’Sé and Cooper return for Dublin duel

All-Star duo Tomas O’Sé and Colm Cooper have been restored to the Kerry team for their Bank Holiday Monday showdown with Leinster champions Dublin at Croke Park (throw-in 2pm).

The pair were dropped for last Sunday's qualifier win over Antrim due to a breach of discipline, but were introduced as substitutes either side of half-time in Tullamore.

For the All-Ireland quarter-final, Kerry boss Jack O'Connor has selected arguably his strongest possible side, with the injured Kieran Donaghy the most notable absentee.

The Kerry management were holding out hope that Donaghy could play some part in Monday's game, but the fractured bone in his left foot, sustained against Longford on July 11, has ruled him out of contention for a place on the bench.

The first personnel change sees Tomas O’Sé preferred to Aidan O'Mahony at right half-back, in a repeat of the switch O'Connor made 44 minutes into the Antrim game.

Marc O’Sé, who is free to play after escaping further punishment for a clash with Antrim's Terry O'Neill, will revert to right corner back with Tom O'Sullivan in the left corner and Tommy Griffin installed at full-back.

Killian Young has also been repositioned to left half-back in the defensive reshuffle.

Donnacha Walsh and Colm Cooper have been drafted into the Kerry attack, after being used as substitutes last weekend.

Walsh will join Declan O'Sullivan and Paul Galvin in the half-forwards, while Cooper and team captain Darran O'Sullivan will flank Tommy Walsh in the full-forward line.

Sean O'Sullivan and Tadhg Kennelly are the players to make way, although they, along with O'Mahony, have been included amongst the substitutes.

Centre-back Mike McCarthy and young forwards Donnacha and Tommy Walsh are the only players included who did not feature against Dublin when the sides met in the 2007 All-Ireland semi-final.

Declan O'Sullivan kicked the final point that day at Croke Park as the Kingdom ended Dublin's All-Ireland hopes with a 1-15 to 0-16 defeat.

But with Kerry struggling for form coming into this weekend's heavyweight encounter, their skipper Darran O'Sullivan feels Dublin are well deserving of the favourites' tag.

"As a Kerry footballer, it's the one game you want to play in," he told Newstalk.

"You've been hearing about the Kerry-Dublin matches for years. Dublin have come on a lot this year.

"They've beaten a Kildare team that have improved immensely, but Dublin showed their fitness and class to win the Leinster final with 14 men.

"After that game, I think they'll go in as favourites against us. But it should be a great occasion, especially in front of a packed Croke Park."

KERRY (SFC v Dublin) - D Murphy; M O Se, T Griffin, T O'Sullivan; T O Se, M McCarthy, K Young; D O Se, S Scanlon; P Galvin, Declan O'Sullivan, D Walsh; C Cooper, T Walsh, Darran O'Sullivan (capt).
