McCarthy returns for the Kingdom

Kerry will welcome back Mike McCarthy for his first competitive game since the All-Ireland final in September 2006 for tomorrow’s home qualifier against Sligo in Tralee.

Kerry boss Jack O’Connor has handed McCarthy the number six jersey, meaning he will play at centre-back.

Marc O Sé drops back to corner-back, while Aidan O’Mahony plays instead of Aidan O’Shea, with Killian Young giving way for McCarthy.

Up front Paul Galvin returns after suspension instead of Kieran Donaghy with Donnacha Walsh changing wings and Sean O’Sullivan moving to the left corner, with free taking being a major consideration for the Cromane sharpshooter retaining his place.

KERRY (SFC v Sligo): D Murphy; M O Sé, T Griffin, T O’Sullivan; T O Sé, M McCarthy, A O’Mahony; S Scanlon, D O Sé; P Galvin, D O’Sullivan, D Walsh; C Cooper, T Walsh, S O’Sullivan.
