Harris return fails to inspire Fingal to win

The return of Fingal captain Dominic Harris from injury was not enough to boost the visitors as Roscommon claimed a three-point win in the Nicky Rackard Cup at Athleague.

A tight tussle was expected after Fingal had edged the corresponding league fixture between the sides in the spring.

Colm Foley, who bagged two goals in that game for Fingal, was a thorn in Roscommon's side throughout this contest, but the Rossies held that extra edge in the fourth quarter.

Perseverence paid off for David McConn's charges with David Dolan's goal vital as the Rossies advanced to the last eight.

Roscommon's opponents in the next round will be known on Monday following the quarter-final draw.
