Earley ban rescinded

The GAA’s Central Hearings Committee has rescinded the eight-week suspension proposed for Kildare’s Dermot Earley following his red card in last Sunday's league meeting with Meath.

Earley had been sent off and reported by the referee for ‘striking with the head’ in the game.

At a meeting last night the CHC viewed DVD evidence of the incident, ruling that while an infraction had taken place, it was less serious than originally thought.

At the same meeting the CHC imposed a fine of €2500 on the Tipperary County Board for ‘disruptive conduct by their players’ during Tipp’s April 5 NHL clash with Galway.

Meanwhile Carlow’s Alan Curran has been hit with a four-week ban for ‘striking an opponent with the hand’ during the April 12 NFL tie against neighbours Wicklow.

Curran still has the option to lodge an appeal against this decision to the Central Appeals Committee.
