Cork 1-15 Meath 0-09
Cork collected all the points at Paric Uí Chaoimh today with a convincing win against Meath.
Five points from Daniel Goulding and a goal from Michael Cussen help the Rebels to brush the Royal County aside in this National League Division 2 clash.
It was a first half that Meath will want to forget as Cork came out of the blocks with all guns blazing and never looked back.
After notching the opening score, Daniel Goulding sent in a perfect high ball across the square to Michael Cussen who pulled off his man and punched the ball past O'Rourke in the Meath goal.
Meath replied to the Cork goal by pointing through David Bray but Cork were on a roll and two points from the excellent Donncha O'Connor followed.
Meath tired to show some resistance through a Stephen Bray point. Cork then hit three unanswered scores with two frees from Goulding and O'Connor and Pearse O'Neill closed out the half by handpassing over the bar for a point.
In the second half, Meath put up more of a fight - but opening scores from Fintan Goold and Goulding pushed Cork further ahead. Meath rallied with a point from Caoimhín King and followed up with points from Cian Ward and a second King point.
Cork dominated the end of the game from here on in with scores from O'Connor and Conor McCarthy. Meath ended the day on a bright note with a good move leading to substitute Seamus Kenny splitting the posts to end the contest.
Meath will need to look at their discipline in the next game after three yellow cards in a contest that did not have any edge to it. Cork roll into a game with Kildare in two week's time full of confidence.
