Yellow's cost Monaghan victory against St. Mary's

Monaghan 1-10 St. Mary's 1-13, Emyvale,

In Section B of the McKenna Cup, Monaghan fell to a 1-13 to 1-10 defeat at the hands of St. Mary's College at Emyvale.

The Farney men had to replace Rory Woods and Dessie Mone after the pair were yellow carded in the first half.

Mary's fell 0-03 to 0-00 behind but they soon found their rhythm and a 15th minute goal from Antrim ace CJ McGourty put them on the path to a 1-07 to 1-05 half-time lead.

Conor McManus struck the Mary's net from a penalty but McGourty put his stamp all over the game, eventually finishing with a personal haul of 1-05, and Mary's also had scores from Sean O'Neill and Barry McGoldrick.

The students will take on Tyrone in their final McKenna Cup group game, while Monaghan still have clashes with Down and Tyrone to come.
