Yellow card proves costly for Limerick IT
Clare 0-13 Limerick IT 0-12, Meelick
Limerick IT made use of a wind advantage to lead by 0-08 to 0-04 at half-time against Clare but a second half yellow yellow card for Galway star Joe Canning proved costly for the students.
They were overhauled at the death in Meelick, with Clare finishing as 0-13 to 0-12 victors.
During that second half turnaround, Tony Carmody, Mark Flaherty and Tony Griffin were the scorers in chief for the Banner men, with Carmody landing the deciding point three minutes from the end.
Conor Hassett, who continued his midfield partnership with Brendan Bugler, also chipped in with two points in the closing ten minutes.
Team captain Canning and Tipperary's Seamus Callinan (0-03) accounted for Limerick IT's second half points, but Callinan agonisingly missed a late 21-yard free.
