Following a meeting of its Central Council, the GAA has today confirmed the fixtures for the 2009 Allianz GAA Football and Hurling National Leagues.

Following a meeting of its Central Council, the GAA has today confirmed the fixtures for the 2009 Allianz GAA Football and Hurling National Leagues.

The action will commence under the Croke Park floodlights on Saturday, January 31 when the reigning All-Ireland champions Tyrone and Leinster champions Dublin go head-to-head.

The GAA's 125th Anniversary celebrations will also be launched that same evening.

The remaining Round 1 games in the NFL will be played on Sunday, February 1.

The National Hurling League will get underway the following Sunday (February 8) and Saturday, February 14 will see the switching on of the Semple Stadium floodlights when Tipperary and Cork clash in Division 1.

Opening round fixtures (all 2.30pm unless stated):

Allianz NFL:

January 31, 2009:

Division 1: Dublin v Tyrone, Croke Park, throw-in tbc.

February 1, 2009:

Division 1: Mayo v Derry, Westmeath v Galway, Kerry v Donegal.

Division 2: Wexford v Armagh, Fermanagh v Monaghan, Cork v Meath, Laois v Kildare.

Division 3: Roscommon v Offaly, Longford v Cavan, Louth v Limerick, Tipperary v Down.

Division 4: Sligo v Kilkenny, Carlow v Clare, London v Leitrim (1pm), Antrim v Wicklow, Waterford bye.

Allianz NHL:

February 8, 2009:

Division 1: Limerick v Clare, Cork v Dublin, Waterford v Tipperary, Galway v Kilkenny.

Division 2: Kerry v Wexford, Antrim v Westmeath, Offaly v Carlow, Laois v Down.

Division 3A: Meath v Kildare, Wicklow v Armagh, Derry v Mayo.

Division 3B: Tyrone v Fingal, Donegal v Longford, Roscommon v London, Louth bye.

Division 4: Cavan v Fermanagh; Sligo v Monaghan; South Down v Leitrim.
