Justin McCarthy is to be appointed as the new Limerick senior hurling manager at a Co board meeting on Tuesday.

The former Waterford boss is replacing the outgoing Treaty manager Richie Bennis, who led the county to a first All-Ireland final in 13 years in 2007.

Limerick exited this year's championship in the qualifiers at the hands of Offaly.

McCarthy is to pick his selectors in the next few weeks.
