O'Rourke remains in Fermanagh hotseat

Malachy O'Rourke has predictably been ratified to continue as Fermanagh senior football manager after an impressive first season in charge.

O'Rourke's re-appointment was confirmed at last night's meeting of the Fermanagh County Board, and his selectors Leo McBride, Paul Coyle and Peter Leonard will also be staying on.

Succeeding Charlie Mulgrew last October, O'Rourke guided Fermanagh to their first Ulster final appearance in 26 years.

They lost July's Ulster decider to Armagh after a replay and last month they bowed out in the third round of All-Ireland qualifiers to Kildare.

The Ernesiders also made some headway in the National League, reaching the Division 3 final in April which they lost to Wexford in extra-time.

The 41-year-old O'Rourke, who helped Derry's Loup to the Ulster club title in 2003, played for Fermanagh at senior level from 1986 to 1996.

Meanwhile, Ciaran Donnelly has been named Fermanagh's minor football manager for next season, with Peter McGinnity as a selector.

The Under-21 manager's position remains vacant.
