Dublin Co Board issue Caffrey statement
The Dublin Co Board havetoday issued a statement thanking Paul Caffrey and his backroom staff for their years of service to the Metropolitan's senior football team.
Caffrey called time on his four-year reign as Dubs manager in the aftermath of last Saturday's shock All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Tyrone.
The brief statement read: "The Dublin Co Board wish to sincerely thank Paul Caffrey and his management team for their incredible dedication in their time at the helm.
"The Co Board will begin the process of finding the next Dublin senior football management at their September meeting."
Meanwhile, two former Dublin favourites, Charlie Redmond and Paddy Cullen, have backed the possibility of the Dubs looking outside of the county for their new man.
Cullen, who managed Dublin to the National Football League title in 1991, told the Star newspaper: "We'll have to think strongly about going for an outside manager now.
"You can see what has happened with the Waterford hurlers. Davy Fitzgerald came in from the outside and they've broken through that barrier of getting to the All-Ireland final in the space of a couple of months.
"They looked like they were down and out and gone so there is the uplifting factor of a new broom and an outsider coming in."
